Professional Statement
I was first drawn to medicine because I loved how the field combines science and human interaction. The idea of curing diseases was especially exciting to me. An interest in cancer research led me to focus on medical oncology and hematology. I chose this field as a lifelong career because I want to make a real difference in the lives of patients with cancer.
As an oncologist, I care for adults with all kinds of cancers, including solid tumors and blood cancers. I also treat non-cancer blood conditions. Some of the areas I’m especially interested in are brain cancer (neuro-oncology), lung cancer, cancers in the urinary and reproductive systems (genitourinary tumors), and cancers in the digestive system (gastrointestinal tumors). Additionally, I am a member of multiple professional organizations focused on oncology and hematology, so I can keep learning from others in our field to provide the best care possible.
To me, good care starts with strong communication and trust. I always take time to explain things in a way that’s easy to understand, because it is important to me that each patient is treated with dignity and respect. Patients coming to see me can expect a friendly face and personal connection as I learn about their lives, experiences, and goals. Ultimately, I want to answer patients’ questions in clear and straightforward terms, so that they’ll leave with confidence that we will work together to manage their diagnosis.
The best part of my day and job is working with a team that puts patients first and can help them feel a bit better each day. When it comes to care, my longtime motto is “treat the body and heal the soul.”
When I’m not in the office, I can be found enjoying the outdoors through riding motorcycles and playing golf. I’m also a big fan of traveling and reading, always looking to expand my horizons.
