Professional Statement
Dr. Teodor Duro was first drawn to medicine by a love of science and a strong desire to help people. Looking for a career where he could understand and use science to make a difference in people’s lives, Dr. Duro chose to specialize in endocrinology, the study of hormones.
He was attracted to this field because of its complexity, as the hormone system is interconnected. Different glands affect each other and the whole body, so solving these puzzles requires deep thinking and careful listening. The long-term relationships with patients also made this field especially meaningful to Dr. Duro.
Dr. Duro treats adults age 18 and older with hormone-related conditions, including diabetes, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), weight concerns, low testosterone, low estrogen, endocrine tumors, and gender-affirming hormone therapy. He has a special interest in pituitary and adrenal disease.
Dr. Duro is a member of the Endocrine Society and American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. He completed medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, and an endocrinology fellowship at the University of New Mexico. He is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology.
During visits, Dr. Duro asks detailed questions to fully understand what is happening. He and the patient then build a treatment plan together using the best medical evidence. His philosophy centers on compassion and partnership, so he keeps patients at the center of every decision about their health and care.
Dr. Duro’s goal is to help people feel heard, supported and confident in their care. His goal is always to reach the best possible outcome for his patients.
Patients describe Dr. Duro as a compassionate listener and a strong problem-solver. He takes time to understand each person’s story and symptoms. Patients appreciate how carefully he looks for the root cause of their conditions.
Dr. Duro describes the most rewarding part of his day as the opportunity to work closely with patients. He enjoys learning about their lives, supporting them through challenges, and seeing their health improve over time.
Outside of work, Dr. Duro enjoys being outdoors. His hobbies include hiking, camping, biking, climbing and martial arts. He speaks English, Greek, and conversational Albanian.
