Professional Statement
A deep curiosity about disease and how the human body works led Dr. Robin Brandstetter to pursue a career in medicine. That same drive to better understand the body, illness and healing shapes the care he provides every day.
Dr. Brandstetter specializes in family medicine and sees patients from birth through the end of life. During medical school, he was drawn to multiple areas, including procedures, internal medicine and pediatrics. He chose family medicine because it brings all of these areas together while allowing him to build long-term relationships with patients. Dr. Brandstetter treats a wide range of conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart failure, thyroid conditions, skin rashes and lesions, joint pain and injuries, and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. He also provides women's health care, obstetrics and pediatric care, with special clinical interests in skin lesions, procedures, women's health and pediatrics.
Dr. Brandstetter earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University California and his Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. Before joining NorthBay, he worked as a physician at Hilltop Urgent Care and Mercy Medical Center Redding. He is board certified in osteopathic medicine, holds a DEA license and is a member of the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Patients seeing Dr. Brandstetter can expect his full attention and problem-solving skills at every step of their care, from reviewing medical history and preventive care options to diagnosis, treatment and condition management. He works to make sure care is delivered smoothly while meeting patients where they are in their lives and health journeys.
By looking at the whole person, rather than the numbers on a chart, Dr. Brandstetter treats medicine as a team effort, working with patients to set and reach their own goals. Every day, he takes great joy in the ability to celebrate patient wins, big and small.
Outside of work, Dr. Brandstetter enjoys relaxing with his wife and their pets, reading science fiction, fantasy and mystery novels and playing board games and tabletop games.
