About

Professional Statement

Dr. Nikunj Donde has always been drawn to complex systems. As a child, he built computers to understand how each component worked. That attention to detail, combined with a deep interest in molecular biology, led him to vascular surgery.

As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Donde sees patients ages 18 and older. He treats a range of conditions including peripheral arterial disease, aortic aneurysms, carotid disease, dialysis access and varicose veins. The ability to think creatively and find solutions to complex problems keeps him engaged in his work every day, and he considers it a privilege to be part of his patients’ long-term care.

Dr. Donde earned his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a Surgical Education and Simulation Fellowship at the University of California, Davis. He went on to complete his vascular surgery residency at UC Davis, where he served as chief resident and received the Outstanding Teaching Award for Resident Medical Staff in Surgery. He is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and continues to expand his knowledge to give patients the highest quality of care.

Patients describe Dr. Donde as approachable, easy to reach and a careful listener. He focuses on building trusting relationships and takes time to understand each patient’s needs and goals. Working together with patients, he builds treatment plans that feel clear and manageable. The most meaningful part of his day is meeting new patients, learning about their lives and understanding what matters most to them.

Outside of work, Dr. Donde loves spending time outdoors, whether playing tennis and running or snowboarding and hiking near Lake Tahoe. He also enjoys playing computer games at home with his wife.
