Nicholas Maalouf, DO

Dr. Nicholas Maalouf was inspired by medicine's combination of science and compassion, and by how the two together can empower patients to take charge of their own health. The blend of working with others and ever-changing science keeps him excited about his work today.

An internal medicine specialist, Dr. Maalouf treats patients ages 18 and older. He was drawn to the field by the way internal medicine brings together physical and mental health to understand each patient as a whole. He treats a range of conditions, including type 1 and 2 diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease, obesity and hyperlipidemia, among others.

Dr. Maalouf is committed to providing compassionate and inclusive care for his LGBTQIA+ patients. His clinical interests in this area include HIV prevention through PrEP and PEP, STI screening, contraception counseling, gender-affirming care, hormone replacement therapy and mental health support. He also provides comprehensive general and preventive care, recognizing that LGBTQIA+ health extends well beyond sexual and gender-related concerns. He works to ensure that every patient has access to a trusted physician who understands their needs and supports their overall well-being.

Before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Maalouf received his Master of Science in Microbiology from Arizona State University. Since earning his DO, he has worked as an internal medicine physician at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Outside of work, Dr. Maalouf enjoys exercise, hiking, travel and road trips. A longtime animal lover who once considered becoming a veterinarian, he is passionate about animal conservation and cares for two parrots and a saltwater fish tank at home. He is also trilingual, speaking English, Spanish and Arabic.
