Professional Statement
Medicine has always been an important way for Dr. Nadir Matti to help people during key moments in their lives. He has long enjoyed building strong, trusting relationships, and that interest naturally led him to this career. That sense of purpose continues to guide his work every day.
Dr. Matti chose family medicine because it allows him to care for patients of all ages and backgrounds. He enjoys the variety of work and the chance to care for the whole person, not just one condition. He finds this type of care both challenging and rewarding.
He began his medical training at Baghdad University, College of Medicine, and later earned another medical degree from Xavier University School of Medicine. He completed his family-medicine residency at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Stockton, where he cared for patients in hospital and clinic settings. Earlier training in eye care, along with work in several states, helped him become flexible and well prepared to meet each patient’s needs. His research in lung cancer screening and chronic disease has also shaped how he plans long-term care and prevention.
Dr. Matti treats both short-term and long-term health conditions. These include common rashes and skin disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, COPD, thyroid disease, obesity, muscle and joint injuries, heart disease, and mental health concerns. Preventive care—such as yearly checkups, screenings and vaccines and prenatal care—is also an important part of his practice. He cares for patients of all ages, from children and teens to adults and seniors.
His care style is centered on the patient and guided by proven medical practices. By listening carefully, explaining clearly, and collaborating on decisions, Dr. Matti helps patients feel informed and confident.
During visits, patients can expect a friendly setting, a careful and respectful exam, and open conversation. Dr. Matti welcomes questions and collaborates with each person on a treatment plan tailored to them. Patients often describe him as kind, attentive, and easy to talk to.
For Dr. Matti, the best part of his job is building long-term relationships and seeing patients grow healthier over time.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Matti enjoys reading, classical music, meditation, yoga and team sports. He speaks English and Arabic.
