Professional Statement
My journey into the field of medicine began long ago with a burning desire to serve others in a meaningful way. Initially, I joined the United States Air Force, which allowed me to engage in humanitarian services aboard. I served two deployments at the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan where I helped care for wounded American servicemembers, as well as Afghan nationals, allies, and even enemy detainees. Those experiences inspired me to continue serving others and proved priceless to my growth as a physician and a person.
My specialty is rheumatology – a field in which I treat conditions such as Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory myopathies, and crystal arthropathies to name a few. I help guide each one of my patients through the chronic care of their disease over long periods of time. Since I view my work in medicine as something very personal, I find it especially rewarding that I’m able to develop long-lasting relationships.
Nothing brings me greater joy during a workday than watching my patients succeed. I treat each patient as if they were my family, or how I would appreciate being treated. They can always count on compassion and respect. I’m also a strong advocate for self-care. I encourage my patients daily to participate in their own healthcare through exercise, stretching, sleep hygiene, and a reasonable diet. At the core of my care philosophy is additionally collaboration with other providers involved in the patient’s care. I will always invest time in reaching out to other providers to ensure each patient receives the most comprehensive care.
Frankly, I’m driven by serving others.
In my spare time, my friends and family can usually find me reading, walking, or tending to my yard and plants. I especially love chauffeuring my children to school and various recreational activities, as well as volunteering at the animal sanctuary and the Fisher House at Travis Air Force Base.
