Professional Statement
My grandfather and uncle were physicians, and watching them work with patients inspired me to study medicine. I started out in pulmonaryandcriticalcare, but now I'm focused on sleep medicine.
About 90 percent of my patients suffer from sleep apnea. The rest have other conditions that affect sleep, such as: insomnia, sleep walking, sleep talking and restless leg syndrome. I want to do whatever I can to help a patient get a good night's sleep.
If someone isn't sleeping well, it affects everything. A person not getting good sleep could see an increase risk for heart disease, hypertension, stroke and memory deficient. Not to mention mood swings, increased risk for car accidents and memory problems.
Patients are referred to me by their primary care physician. Most are age 60 and over. When I talk to a patient, we discuss treatment options for their condition and how to help them reach their goals. I want patients to feel like their questions are answered and they understand their condition.
In my spare time, I like to travel.
