Professional Statement
From my earliest memories, I have been inspired to study medicine. I often dressed in surgical scrubs and played doctor as a boy. My father, who is also a physician, sometimes even brought home expired clinic materials for me to use in those days. But as I got older, I realized being a doctor was not all fun and games. A doctor needed to be part scientist, teacher, advisor, and advocate – traits I both admired and modeled after my own doctors and father. I desired to serve others in my community, and medicine allows me to do so with people from every corner of society.
Today, I am proud to treat a wide variety of conditions, ranging from hearing loss and chronic or recurrent sinus infections to sleep apnea to nasal deformities and thyroid cancer. My specialty allows me to impact how patients experience the world around them through hearing, smelling, and speaking. I find great satisfaction in improving a patient’s quality of life.
All my patients are treated as if they are members of my own family. I strongly believe the first step in any therapeutic relationship is to see humanity in every patient. My patients can therefore expect my undivided attention and respect. My role isn’t simply to tell my patients what they should do. Instead, I have honest discussions about their condition and treatment options. Then we can make decisions together on how to proceed. I want them to leave my office with a clear understanding of what’s happening to their body and our plan to address their issues as we move forward. Of course, I might also toss in a corny joke or two.
In my free time, I love spending my days with my wife and son. We especially love our movie nights and traveling. If I’m not with them, I enjoy watching sports, exercising, and playing golf.
