High school was when I really knew I wanted to pursue medicine. My grandfather passed away from colon cancer when I was a teenager. It was the first family loss I can recall and I wanted to know and understand what happened to him. I revisited this curiosity when I first took weight training as my elective course in high school. Reading about workouts eventually led me to muscle anatomy and physiology. I knew at that time that medicine was a field that had a world of knowledge to offer.
My specialty is Internal Medicine which focuses on patients, adults (ages 18+), with complex or multiple conditions. Some of the typical diseases include obesity/weight loss, diabetes, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, COPD, arthritis, hypertension, and high cholesterol. This field requires attention to details and good communication, both characteristics that I pride myself in having.
When patients come to my office, I work hard to provide them a comfortable and relaxed environment. I listen intently and collaboratively create a tailored treatment plan to help solve the issue. I am personable and always willing to research things I don’t know or am not sure about. As an added bonus, I have been told by some patients that I am funny!
Additionally, I believe in health optimization/disease prevention. Sometimes, the best time to see your primary care doctor can be when you are completely healthy!
When I am not at work, I enjoy basketball, cooking, weight lifting, singing and action/thriller movies.
