Professional Statement
At the core of all that I do as a doctor is a sincere desire to make a difference in people's lives. I want them to feel better leaving my office than when they came in the door. That's my goal.
I bring more than two decades of experience to the NorthBay OB/GYN practice, working with a diverse range of patient both in private practice and in a county hospital setting. At NorthBay, I helped to found the Center for Women's Health in 2008 and serve as medical director for Women's Health.
My decision to become a doctor is the result of a combination of factors: a love of life sciences and a desire to help others and fix things.
I chose obstetrics and gynecology because it allows me to care for my patients throughout their lifetimes - from puberty to childbearing, to menopause. It is the only specialty in medicine which offers this continuum of care throughout a patient's life.
I like to get to know my patients over a long time, and my approach to care is proactive. I partner with my patients in order to optimize their care, creating individual care plans for each. I have a special interest in urogynecology (incontinence procedures) and it has been a part of my practice since 1997. In addition, my practice includes general gynecology as well as infertility and obstetrics.
I enjoy what I do very much because I get to be a primary care physician and a surgeon but I always try non-invasive treatments first, before recommending any possible surgery. My patients range in age from teenagers to women going through menopause. As a physician, I try to listen as much as possible. I am open, honest and straightforward. I want to make a connection with my patients. I try to do the best job I can.
I get the greatest satisfaction in my work when I am able to help a patient who is suffering from pelvic problems, for example, and see them be able to go back to a normal, active life, doing the things they love to do. That is extremely rewarding.
When I am not working, I enjoy an active life, playing tennis, working out, traveling and spending time with my family, including my three sons.
